Half-Fae Elessia could have led a charmed life, making the most of her ability to compel anyone to do her bidding just by looking in their eyes. But, after a tragic accident, she's thrown into the Fae king's dungeons and forced to swear a blood oath, binding her to his service.
Five years later, she's living amongst humans in Ellow and has created a life for herself. But her debt to the king still hangs over her head, and now he's come to collect.
Tasked with infiltrating the human elections to determine whether the current regent is involved in strange events in the land of Fae, Elessia knows that this is her only chance at freedom - if only she can prevent her lethal and ever-watching Fae guard from eliminating her before she can unearth the information the king seeks.
But, as she grows closer to the brooding human regent and secrets begin to unravel, Elessia realises greater forces may be at play. And soon she is faced with a choice: her own freedom or that of an entire nation.
