It's the twilight of the twenty-first century, and perpetual failure Connie Lam is barely scraping by as a low-level Contractor on a distant asteroid station called Freeport, a retrofuturistic cosmopolis known for its glitzy nightlife and glamorous wealth. But behind the fizzy cocktails and shiny gold veneer, a revolution is brewing. Trapped between two worlds, Connie must find new ways to stay afloat financially, and concoct new schemes to avoid deportation.
