A Serving of Hope

If I hadn't searched for the 'flavours' of my memories, I think I would have spent my life endlessly chasing the past. Near Higashi Honganji Temple in Kyoto, the Kamogawa Diner continues to attract lost souls seeking meaning in their lives. From the morning miso soup before heading to Kyoto for the judicial examination, to the onigiri gifted alongside cherished promises. The ginger pork that became a memory of unrequited love, to the not-too-sour chilled noodles from grandma's house. The fried chicken treated by the diner's owner to the struggling baseball team, to the macaroni gratin shared with my young son for the last time-welcome to the diner without a sign, where a chef father and a detective daughter await.
