As Emperor Yongzheng (Chen Jianbin) prepares to choose the latest addition to his team of concubines, he finds himself lusting after the pure 17-year-old Zhen Huan (Sun Li). Once inducted, Zhen Huan realises that the seemingly glamorous lifestyle led by the Emperor's concubines is merely a front and what hides behind the palace walls is loneliness, fear and politics.
